Malaysia's Doha Flights Suspended Until June 14

Malaysia Airlines has suspended all flights to and from Doha (DOH) since February 28, 2026, with the current extension running through June 14, 2026 and honestly, no confirmed resumption date exists beyond that. The suspension stems from ongoing Middle East airspace closures tied to military activity across Iran, Iraq and the Persian Gulf, with the airline monitoring NOTAMs before it'll commit to anything further.

This isn't a short blip, it's been extended three times already, which tells you everything about how unstable the situation remains.

Who's affected: Anyone routing through Doha on Malaysia Airlines , long-haul travelers connecting to Europe, expats commuting between Southeast Asia and the Gulf and digital nomads who, turns out, rely heavily on DOH as a flexible Asia-Europe hub. Malaysians currently in Qatar, UAE, Iran or Iraq are also caught in this, the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra) has issued active advisories urging deferral of non-essential travel to all those countries.

Alternative routings are running, just longer and likely more expensive, Malaysia Airlines has added capacity on rerouted Asia-Europe services to absorb the overflow.

What to do now:

  • Check your booking immediately via Malaysia Airlines' "My Booking" portal and update your contact details so you receive rebooking or refund notifications automatically
  • Malaysians in affected countries should register at e-Konsular or contact the nearest embassy , the Malaysian Embassy in Doha is reachable at +974 4483 6463 or mw.doha@kln.gov.my
  • Expect higher costs and longer travel times on rerouted itineraries, factor that into any Asia-Europe trip you're pricing right now
  • Watch Wisma Putra advisories closely, they've flagged the risk of sudden flight changes with little notice

Frankly, if you're a nomad building a routing through Doha this spring, don't. The suspension has already slipped past three deadlines, June 14 could easily move again and the broader regional tensions driving the NOTAM restrictions haven't resolved.
