Exploring Oman's 14-Day Visa-Free Entry Policy

Oman allows citizens from over 100 countries to enter the Sultanate without a prior visa for stays of up to 14 days. This policy simplifies travel for a massive list of nationalities, including those from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Japan, and most of the EU. The program splits eligible travelers into two groups: 73 countries receive unconditional access, while 30 others must hold a valid visa from the US, UK, or Schengen area to qualify.

While the 14-day window is perfect for a scouting trip or a short stopover, it is strictly non-extendable. Travelers who overstay will face fines of 10 riyals per day. It is also important to remember that this entry type does not permit formal work activities, so it serves primarily as a way to explore the local infrastructure and lifestyle before committing to a longer stay.

Requirements for the 14-day stay

To clear immigration under this policy, you need to have your documentation ready before you land. You must present:

  • A passport with at least six months of validity.
  • A confirmed hotel reservation and a return flight ticket.
  • Health insurance that covers your entire stay in Oman.
  • Proof of sufficient funds for your daily expenses.

Options for digital nomads

For digital nomads looking for more than a two-week stay, Oman does not currently offer a specific remote work visa. However, you can use the Royal Oman Police eVisa system to apply for longer tourist stays. These options include a 30-day single-entry visa for 20 OMR or a one-year multiple-entry visa for 50 OMR, which allows for stays of up to 30 days per visit.
