Capital One Rolls Out Dedicated Travel App

Capital One has officially moved its travel ecosystem into a standalone mobile app for iOS and Android. Released on March 17, the platform centralizes booking, rewards management, and airport lounge access into a single interface. This shift comes after the bank's travel portal saw booking volumes increase tenfold since its inception, signaling a major push to compete with dedicated travel booking platforms.

The app is designed to function as an integrated ecosystem for cardholders. Beyond standard flight and hotel bookings, it includes a Live Lounge Locator that provides real-time capacity updates and digital waitlist access for Capital One’s growing network of lounges. Users can also manage vacation rentals and local activities while earning or redeeming miles directly at checkout.

Who stands to benefit

While the app is available to all Capital One rewards cardholders, Venture X users gain the most utility. This group receives complimentary lounge access via digital QR codes and elevated earning rates, such as 10 miles per $1 on hotels and rental cars.

Frequent travelers and digital nomads will find the "Trip Intelligence" features particularly useful. The app provides live flight alerts, gate changes, and price notifications. It also allows users to stay logged in for up to 75 days, reducing the friction of repeated sign-ins while moving between time zones. Business travelers also have access to integrated expense management via the Capital One Business Travel platform.

How to access the features

There are no additional fees to download or use the app. Eligible cardholders can find it on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. While the primary banking app still retains travel functionality, this dedicated version is streamlined for those who frequently book on the go.

If you are planning an upcoming trip, you can use the app to browse the Premier and Lifestyle Collection, which recently expanded to include 500,000 vacation rentals.
